Having fun is a part of every child’s learning experience

Our youngest children at SSB enjoy learning through play. They receive individual attention from their bilingual, Scandinavian and French speaking, teachers.

Emphasis is placed on building self-confident and active learners. By limiting the number of children in each group, we can provide a personal focus on each child. While at the same time, they can develop their independence and their ability to understand the needs of concerns of their classmates. Themes such as: respect, solidarity, tolerance and friendship are discussed and worked with daily in our groups.

The day is a balance of structured learning and a free choice of activities. Every day we go out with our children. Creativity in play and learning is encouraged through arts and crafts, gymnastics, music and drama, nature and field trips..

Our oldest children participate in a program that prepares them for their coming school start, as well as ease the transition into a more-structured learning environment. Our close cooperation with class 1 allows us to reach this goal.

Multicultural celebrations throughout the year help us to learn about our Scandinavian and European traditions. It is the children’s early learning experiences which set the pace for their future success in school.
