Wednesday & Friday Academic Workshop
A range of various academic workshops for students in classes 1-7!
The school’s “mission” is that the students should be challenged in an academic area through various activities and discover this in a different way than during regular school lessons.
This year’s workshops include English and French for cl. 1-3, Math & Problem solving and French for cl. 4-7 and Homework Help for cl. 1-7 in a joint group.
Homework Help cl. 1-7
Objectives:
- Help each student individually with their homework
The students bring their own personal material and weekly plannings. Then, the teacher coaches them on achieveing their goals.
French cl. 1-3 & 4-7
Objectives:
- Reinforce the students ability to speak French
- Increase their vocabulary
- ncrease their confidence in speaking
The students will meet the objectives through various activities; through aesthetical activities such as music, art, film and games; through more traditional activities such as grammar exercises and text-book material.
The students in cl. 1-3 are grouped according to level in 2 groups with 2 teachers.
Cl. 4-7 is in one group, both beginners and advanced learners. This challenges the students to cooperate and help each other.
Math & Problem Solving cl. 4-7
Objectives:
- To learn mathematics by experimenting
- To learn and use different methods for understanding mathematics
- Learn how mathematics are connected to everyday life
The students work with a range of various activities; understanding by experimenting and doing hands-on activities; they make hypotheses and find solutions to problems; understand how mathematics is connected to natural science; learn about the history of maths; work with different materials and games, both inside and outside; work with online material and ICT-skills when appropriate.
English cl. 1-3
Objectives:
- Improve language skills
- Work with themes which complement the regular English lessons
To further improve the students’ language skills, a range of activities such as digital resources, ICT, games, educational videos and songs are used.
The students are divided according to level in 2 groups during the first part of the lesson with 2 teachers – the latter part they are all together.
The minimum amount of participants must be 10 children.
